Six Areas of Research and Practice

Our work spans the full education ecosystem, from policy design to classroom implementation, with attention to underserved learner populations.

Education Policy Advocacy

We analyze education policy at local, state, and federal levels to surface gaps affecting learner equity. Our work supports advocates and institutions seeking evidence-based recommendations.

Workforce Education

We develop training frameworks that align credential pathways with labor market realities. Special attention is given to first-generation learners and career-transitioning adults.

Adult and Continuing Education

We design programs and resources for adult learners re-entering formal education. Our research addresses barriers including time constraints, prior learning recognition, and digital access.

Higher Education

We partner with colleges and universities on curriculum reform, faculty development, and student persistence research. Our institutional work centers equity and access in degree attainment.

Documentary-Based Learning

We use documentary film as a pedagogical tool to engage learners with complex social topics. Our approach includes structured discussion guides and assessment frameworks for classroom use.

Low-Tech Simulations

We design role-play and scenario-based simulations that require minimal technology. These tools build critical thinking and professional judgment in resource-constrained learning environments.

Emerging Technology

GenAI-Powered Immersive Learning

We are building capacity for educators and institutions to integrate augmented reality, virtual reality, and extended reality experiences into structured learning environments. Our approach uses generative AI to make immersive design accessible without requiring specialized technical expertise.

From clinical simulation to historical reconstruction, immersive environments expand what learning can look like and who it can reach.

  • AR and VR scenario design for educator training
  • XR integration in higher education curricula
  • GenAI tools for low-cost immersive content creation
  • Accessibility frameworks for extended reality

Our Mission

We believe that improving education systems requires both rigorous research and direct engagement with the people who teach, learn, and lead within them.

Who We Are

Frame the Change LAB is an education research and design organization. We work at the intersection of policy, pedagogy, and emerging technology to build practical tools and frameworks that educators and institutions can use.

Research-Grounded

Every initiative we undertake is anchored in peer-reviewed literature and field-based evidence. We do not build tools or deliver training that is not informed by what the research says works.

Practice-Oriented

Our outputs are designed for use, not just publication. We translate findings into curriculum materials, policy briefs, workshop designs, and digital tools that educators can apply immediately.

Globally Minded

We work across education systems in different country contexts. Our frameworks are designed to be adaptable, not prescriptive, so they hold up across different institutions, cultures, and resource levels.
